Abstract
This study aimed to investigate students' perceptions towards the use of animated videos in learning speaking skills as well as explore their experiences in learning
speaking through the medium of animated videos. Robbins' (2002) theory identifies three main perception indicators: Acceptance, Understanding, and Evaluation, showing that the majority of students had positive perceptions towards animated videos. On the other hand, Reigeluth's (1983) theory emphasizes three indicators of student experience: Effectiveness, Efficiency, and Instruction Appeal. A deep understanding of the material not only increases learning effectiveness, but also ensures time efficiency and instructional appeal, which motivates students in the learning process. The research methodology used was qualitative, with data collection through 15 questions of questionnaire and 7 questions of interview. The findings show that students have a positive perception of animated videos, which is influenced by their experience in using the media. The use of animated videos proved to be effective and efficient in supporting students to understand, remember and learn the material. In addition, the use of this video also succeeded in increasing their vocabulary, deepening their
understanding of context, strengthening their motivation to learn, and building their confidence in speaking.
