Abstract
This research was conducted by knowing the factors that cause plagiarism and the types of plagiarism that exist in CBR and CJR assignments that have been done by 2021 English education students at Medan State University. The research
method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of distributing questionnaires and document analysis carried out on CBR and CJR assignments from 6 students majoring in English Education class of 2021 who have a minimum ipk of 3.6. The data were analyzed using a thematic analysis approach, besides that the researcher used Turnitin media to analyze the percentage of plagiarism in the participants' CBR and CJR assignments. The results showed that all participants had good knowledge about plagiarism, they all thought that plagiarism was wrong. Unfortunately, their knowledge and opinion about plagiarism did not make them stop plagiarizing when doing CBR and CJR
assignments. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of plagiarism prevention efforts among students by providing knowledge and experience on how to write well and ethically, increasing honest and creative culture in universities and making it a habit to check plagiarism on student assignments such as using turnitin to check the percentage of plagiarism on their assignment
