Abstract
This qualitative descriptive study examines the instructional leadership of English teachers at SMP IT Al-Ulum Medan. Grounded in Hallinger's (2005) instructional leadership model and Scheerens' theory (2003). The findings indicate that all teachers have applied instructional leadership in the classroom. Each teacher effectively implements the three types of instructional leadership: monitoring, managing, and assessing. This is evident in their classroom practices, where they actively oversee student activities, maintain order, and assess student understanding through various methods. This study highlights the importance of instructional leadership performed by teachers in English language classrooms, as they will certainly face challenges in setting learning objectives and managing classroom behavior, which will lead to a more cohesive and effective learning environment. In addition, this study underscores the role of continuing professional development in supporting teachers in overcoming these challenges and maintaining high instructional standards.
