Abstract

This research deals with students’ problems in writing recount text on online
learning at eighth grade of SMP N 3 Doloksanggul. This study aimed to discover
students’ problems in writing recount text on online learning and to know the
solutions that teacher gives to solve the problems. This research was held at SMP
N 3 Doloksanggul. The research was conducted by utilizing the descriptive
qualitative method. This study was carried out by doing observation and
interviews. The observation was held by joining online learning. The researcher
interviewed English teacher and students at eight grades A of SMP N 3
Doloksanggul. The data of the study was the result of the interview with students
and teacher. The result of this study showed that students had five problems in
writing recount text on online learning namely content, vocabulary, organization,
grammar, and mechanic. The teacher gave solution to resolve the students’
problems when writing recount text on online learning namely by sending the
recount text learning material again in group class online learning.
