Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the PjBL model on students' creative thinking skills on the topic of environmental pollution in class VII. This study used a quasi-experimental design from a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group. This research sample consisted of two classes, namely the control class with 32 students and the experimental class with 32 students. The control class was taught using the direct instruction learning model, while the experimental class was taught using the PjBL model. The test instrument data collection technique was a test instrument consisting of 25 valid multiple-choice questions. These questions consist of 25 questions to measure students' learning of creative thinking skills. The average score for students' creative thinking skills in the experimental class was 92.67, while the average score for students' creative thinking skills in the control class was 71.07. The difference in student learning outcomes in creative thinking skills was 21.54 in the posttest results for the experimental class and the control class. The t-test result was 0.00 which was obtained from the 2-tailed significance value and the treatment effect size result was 0.976 in high results (≥0.80 very high category) using the Cohen partial eta squared treatment effect size test. The research results showed that there was a significant effect of the PjBL model on students' creative thinking skills.
