Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the teacher's questioning skills in
thematic learning theme 4 sub-theme 1 learning 2 grade IV SDN 106158
Pematang Johar, Labuhan Deli District, Deli Serdang Regency T.A 2022/2023.
The research subjects were teachers of class IV-A and IV-B SDN 106158
Pematang Johar. The method used in this research is descriptive. Data collection
techniques using observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The
data analysis technique used descriptive percentage analysis. The results showed
that the teacher of class IV-A SDN 106158 Pematang Johar was better than class
IV-B of SDN 106158 Pematang Johar in terms of teacher questioning skills in
thematic learning theme 4 sub theme 1 during the learning process. It can be seen
that class IV-A teachers get a percentage of 80% in the "Very Good" category and
Class IV-B teachers get a percentage of 75% in the "Good" category in applying
questioning skills in thematic learning theme 4 sub-theme 1 Class IV SDN
106158 Pematang Johar. In this study, it was also found that the teachers of class
IV-A and class IV-B had different student responses to the teacher's skills in
asking questions, namely the "Very Good" and "Good" categories. The conclusion
of this study is that the teacher has mastered the skill of asking well, but there are
several indicators of basic and advanced questioning skills that the teacher has not
mastered, such as tracking questions, an increase in interaction in the classroom,
shifting turns and providing guidance if students have difficulty answering.
Suggestions for teachers are teachers must fully understand the components in
questioning skills, and teachers must also increase interaction with students in the
classroom.
