Abstract
This research aimed to explain the learning outcomes for each element in phaseD
and analysed their accordance with the learning outcomes in the English textbook
“English for Nusantara” used in the seventh grade at SMPN 37 Medan. There area
three elements of learning outcomes for phase D based on the Merdeka
curriculum, namely listening-speaking, reading-viewing, and writing-presenting.
This research employed qualitative techniques with content analysis methods and
utilized observation and interview to collect data. The results indicated that
learning outcomes were found in the content of the material and assignments of
the English textbook, and they accordance with the learning outcomes for phase
D in the Merdeka curriculum. The highest learning outcomes’ element in the
English textbook is listening-speaking (43.54%), reading-viewing (31.72%), and
the lowest is writing-presenting (24.74%). Based on the interview with one of the
English teachers at the school, the book is in line with the independent curriculum
standards, but it still has shortcomings, such as content that is too verbose.
Therefore, this book is recommended to be accompanied by other textbooks as a
supplement.
