DESIGNING MEDIA IN TEACHING LISTENING BY USING PODCAST OF NARRATIVE TEXT AT SMA NEGERI 13 MEDAN

The objective of the study was to to design teaching listening media of
narrative text by using podcast. This study was carried out at SMA Negeri 13
Medan with the help of Research and Development (R&D) method, which
contained six stages; gathering information and data, analyzing data, designing
material, validating by the experts, revising material, and the last was final
product. The subject of this study was 27 tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 13
Medan. This study gathered data by observing existing media, interviewing the
English teacher, and providing questionnaires to students to determine their needs.
The study's conclusion led in the creation of efficient media that students and
teachers may access outside and within the classroom, and which can be utilized
as a teaching media for students to advance their listening abilities in narrative
text. The product was validated by two experts in percentage terms; the average
score of expert validations was 90%, indicating that it is very valid and could
potentially applied in teaching narrative text listening.
