Abstract
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a condition that can develop in individuals,
including those studied within the field of abnormal psychology, after they
experience a shocking, terrifying, or distressing event. Research aimed to explore
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in Palestinian poetry from 2000 to the
present, with a particular focus on the poems of Mosab Abu Thaha and Rafeef
Ziadah. Poetry was chosen as the medium of study due to its powerful ability to
convey deep emotions and shape readers' perceptions of personal and collective
experiences. The main objectives of this research were to identify the expressions
of PTSD in the poetry of Mosab Abu Thaha and Rafeef Ziadah, to explore the
causes of PTSD depicted in their works, and to understand how these poets
express PTSD as a form of resilience and resistance. The focus of this study is to
find PTSD in poetry and analyze the causes of PTSD and the disclosure of
imagery in poems that reflect PTSD, which were selected based on the
background of Palestinian life. This research used qualitative research. A textual
analysis approach examined how the poets used language, imagery, and themes to
portray PTSD. This research used the PTSD theory from Gerald C. Davidson
(2006) and Perrine's imagery theory. The data source was taken from the
transcript of the poems. This research used 10 poems from Mosab Abu Thaha and
Rafeef Ziadah that described the situation in Palestine. The research found that
there were two types of causes of PTSD found in the poems of the two poets. The
types of causes were psychological causes and environmental causes. The poets
used imagery that deepens the poem's meaning to reflect PTSD in the poem.
