Abstract
This study aims to describe early childhood mathematics material taught by
teachers to children aged 5-6 years at PAUD Peduli Anak Sipahutar, to describe
the types of learning media used by teachers in introducing early childhood
mathematics to ages 5-6 years at PAUD Peduli Anak Sipahutar, describes the
learning methods used by teachers in introducing early childhood mathematics for
ages 5-6 years at PAUD Peduli Anak Sipahutar, as well as describing the math
development assessment tool for children aged 5-6 years used by teachers at
PAUD Peduli Anak Sipahutar. The research method used is descriptive
qualitative. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and
documentation which were then analyzed using interactive analysis techniques,
namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings
of the results obtained in this study indicate that the early childhood mathematics
material taught by teachers consists of matching, comparison and
ordering/seriation, geometry, and numbers and operations. The types of learning
media used by teachers in introducing early childhood mathematics consist of
model media such as colorful balls, blocks, and realia media such as corn kernels
or rice seeds. The learning methods used by teachers in introducing early
childhood mathematics to children include playing methods, demonstration
methods, conversation methods, assignment methods, singing methods, and
habituation methods. For the assessment tool used by the teacher in knowing the
development of children's mathematics, namely the checklist assessment tool.
