Abstract
The objective of this study was to develop appropriate project based worksheet in teaching explanation text to achieve students' reading skills in comprehending texts well, so that students become active and creative in planning their own projects afterward. This study was carried out from grade eleven students particularly science class at SMA YPIS Maju Binjai. The present study was carried out utilizing the Research and Development (R&D) methodology, comprising six distinct stages: gathering information and data, data analysis, worksheet design, expert validation, worksheet revision, and final product. The data was gathered through the distribution of questionnaire for students and interviewed an English teacher to get the students need. The product has been validated by two experts in percentage terms. The average score of expertsvalidations was 100% in content aspect, the presentation aspect was 96%, the language aspect was 98.3%, and the layout was 94%. The average score was 97.07% which categorized as very good. This study concluded that the developed project based worksheet in teaching explanation text may be used as teaching materials of explanation text at Senior High School level.
