Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine students’ perceptions of the use of Quizizz in learning to write descriptive text. This research method was a qualitative descriptive method. The subjects were seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Tigalingga. The data of this study were the results of questionnaires and transcripts of interviews conducted with students. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that the perceiver factor has fifty-four positive perceptions and eighty negative perceptions. Then the second factor is the target has seventy�two positive perceptions and seventy-six negative perceptions and the last factor is the situation has thirty positive perceptions and seventy-eight negative perceptions. The results of the interview session revealed that before using
Quizizz, students preferred books or videos provided by the teacher because they were considered practical. After using Quizizz, there was an increase in motivation, but there was still reluctance related to internet access and concentration problems experienced by students. Based on the results of the study, it can be suggested that teachers consider diversifying learning methods by combining the use of Quizizz, books, and videos. Teachers need to understand students’ preferences regarding learning media to create a more positive learning experience. Increasing the availability of materials in various formats can help to
better meet students’ needs.
