Abstract

The objective of this study was to create an online story book as a reading material for enhancing students' reading comprehension of recount texts. The research was carried out with a group of 22 eighth-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 47 Sunggal. This study employs the R&D (Research and Development) methodology, which consists of six stages: data and information collection, data analysis, product design, expert validation, product changes, and final product development. The research data was acquired through interview with English teachers and the distribution of questionnaires to students. The outcome of this research led to the creation of an online story book. Following the design and subsequent validation of the product, two experts assigned ratings of 4.8 and 4.8, respectively. When the values are added together and averaged, the result is 96%, which falls into the category of "very good" and indicates that it is suitable to be utilized as a learning tool for teaching reading comprehension ability in recount text for eight-grade students at the junior high school level.
