Abstract

This study aims to develop a Pocket E-Book Introduction to Fish Taxonomy that is suitable for use in Vertebrate Taxonomy course. The type of research used is R&D with the 4D development model with the stages of define, design, develop and disseminate. The developed Pocket E-Book was validated by material/fish taxonomy experts, design experts, linguistic experts, and assessed by Vertebrate Taxonomy course lecturer and Biology students. The results of the development of the Pocket E-Book by material /fish taxonomy experts was 93.75%, with the criteria "very good/feasible", by design experts was 97.82% with the criteria "very good/feasible" and by the linguistic experts was 92.85% with the criteria ―very good/feasible‖. The assessment is based on the lecturers‗responses in the Vertebrate Taxonomy course was of 89.28% with the criteria "very good/feasible". Meanwhile, the assessment of Biology students‗ responses, were in individual group trial of 94.16%, in small group trial of 95.35% and in limited group trial of 94.58% with the criteria "very good/feasible. These results indicate that the developed Pocket E-Book is eligible for use. The assessment can be seen on the cognitive learning results, with a gain value of 0.72, with "High" criteria, and the t test results obtained were P = 0.000 < 0.05, and the psychomotor learning results obtained an average value of 86.08 which means into the "Very good" category and the t test results obtained were P = 0.000 < 0.05. It concluded that the use of the developed Pocket E-Book Introduction to Fish Taxonomy is effective in increasing students' knowledge in fish taxonomy with significant differences in cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes tests, thus the Pocket E-Book Introduction to Fish Taxonomy product can be used as additional learning medium for use by lecturers, students and readers in general.
