Abstract
This research focuses on a suitable application media that can be used in the teaching and learning process, namely Lectora Inspire media. This research uses quantitative methods to explore students' needs, difficulties and desires so that researchers can create media that improves students' abilities, especially students' writing skills. This research uses the Borg and Gall theory to examine the data in this research. the data results found that (1) students still have difficulty understanding recount text in English (2) students need useful application media to improve their abilities, especially in writing skills in recount text. (3) teachers and lecturers agree to develop Lectora Inspire media as an application media to improve students' writing skills, especially in recount text.
