Abstract

This study focuses on designing teaching media Technological Pedagogical
Content Knowledge (TPACK)-based. The purpose of this study is to design
teaching media for teacher and students in making the English learning more
effective and attracted through Assemblr Edu TPACK-based. This study is
conducted based on educational research and development (R&D), proposed by
Borg and Gall (1983), but in implementing the model is simplified and adapted to
Dirgeyasa (2011) become three steps: 1) Evaluation and Need Analysis; 2)
Teaching Material Development; 3) Validation. The data analysis by Descriptive
Qualitative method. The data source is Assemblr Edu application. The target of
this research was 23 students grade seventh from SMP Muhammadiyah 49 Medan
and 1 English Teacher. The data was collected by questionnaires and interview.
The result of this study showed that the existing teaching media used was less
relevant with the need of students in terms of the learning activity, audio or visual.
After gaining the data from the evaluation and need analysis, it was found that the
relevant teaching media needed by the students of SMP Muhammadiyah 49
Medan are the teaching media which interesting and attracting both audio or
visual.
