Abstract
This study aims to analyze kind of Reward and Punishment implemented in Teaching English and analyze the implmentation of Reward and Punishment in Teaching English at SMPN 3 Percut Sei Tuan, especially at grade eight. This research used decriptive qualitative design. The data were obtained through Observation and interview. The findings of this study revealed that there are three kinds of rewards used by the teacher namely Praise, Tangible Rewards and Extra Points and one kind of Punishment, namely warning. In the implementation of reward and punishment, there are several step used by the teacher, first the teacher prepares the material, then the teacher explains the material briefly, after that the teacher gives several questions to the students. If the student can answer correctly or can express his opinion, the teacher will give a reward. Then for punishment the teacher gives a warning before doing assignments such as "Don't cheat your friend's task". Reward and Punishment implementation in teaching english is considered important because it can motivate students and make them enthusiastic in learning.
