Abstract

This study focused on female masculinity in Far From The Madding Crowd (2015) movie. The objectives of this study were to investigate female masculinity in Far From The Madding Crowd (2015) movie and to describe why the main character have the characteristics of female masculinity in the movie. The main character, Bathseba Everdene, a woman who had no parents since she was a child, and she grew up to be a very independent and slightly individualist woman. This research uses the theory of Halberstam (1998). The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with library research technique. The results of this study indicate that female masculinity described in the main character has several characteristics, such as independent, firm and logical thinking. The female masculinity contained in Bathseba is caused by two factors, that is family factors and social factors.
