Abstract
This research aimed at analyzing student’s perception on teacher’s humor and student’s most favorite type of humor in English classroom at SMAN 6 Medan. This research was carried out using descriptive qualitative method. The data were
collected by interviewed 28 students. Based on the results of interviews, Researcher discovered that students had both positive and negative perception. The positive perception of using humor included students were relaxed in the learning process, students remembered and understood the material more easily, students felt close to the teachers, students were not afraid of being active in the classroom and students become more enthusiastic to learn and attend the class. The negative perception is that students cannot stay focused and the time will be reduced. Then researcher also discovered that students liked visual humor, funny stories, humorous comments and joke/riddle. Almost all students had positive perception and most of students liked visual humor and funny stories.
