Abstract
The objectives of the study are (1) to investigate out meanings represented by the ika and en in Bahasa Panai (BP), (2) to elucidate the realizations of the ika and en in BP, (3) to explain the reasons for the realization of how the ika and en in BP. The methodology of research is qualitative descriptive method based on theory of Bogdan and Biklen and using interactive model analysis Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2014) to analyze the data analysis in three steps are data condentation, data display and drawing, verfying / conclusion. The research finding of this study is there are 11 ika forms, namely ika, ikala, ika la iya, ka, sika, disika, kasika, nika, nyaika, naika, bagika, and kika and 49 en forms, namely en, enen, enla, en jen, en jenen, en ko len, en kin, en kinen, jen, len, lenen, men, ten, nen, sen, den, nyen, nyenen, nyainen jen, diten, ditenen, siten, disiten, distenen, disiten-disiten, katen, katenen, isen, kasiten, kasitenen, kinjen, kanglenen, bagen, bagenen, bagen la, bagenen, bagenen jen, taen, taenen jen, kinien, okhangen, san, sanan, disan, disanan, kasan, and kasanan. The reseacher found 737 times of using ika and en occurred in BP which comprises 230 ika and 507 en utterances from 15 informants. The meaning in this study was described relevant to lexicogrammar rank scale and metafunction. The ika and en in lexicogrammar rank scale consists of clause, group/phrase (nominal group; deictic /numerative /ephitet /classifier /qualifier, verbal group, and adverbial group), word (as determiner, pronoun and adverb) and morpheme. The meaning of ika and en in experiential function is realized as deictic demonstrative, possesive, and circumstance, in logical function is realized as paratactic enhancement, in interpersonal function is realized as adjunct in speech function of declarative, question, offer and imperative, in textual function is realized as textual theme, interpersonal theme and topical theme, in textual cohesion is realized as reference of pronoun / participant and demonstrative/circumstance. The results of the study can be used as additional reference to learn lexicogrammar of ika and en in BP. the practically implication of the present study is as new opportunity for the government to make local language policy that BP local language made as local lesson content at school where government would prepare hundreds of BP panai teacher as new job vacancies. Theoritically the result study implies to support and enrich previous linguictic theories about lexicogrammar of local language and contribute to develomental newest of linguictic theory.
