Abstract
Teachers are expected to implement technology in the classroom to meet students’
needs in 21st Century. Scratch program is one of the technological developments
that offer great opportunities to facilitate teachers and motivate students in
teaching and learning English. The purpose of this study was to investigate the
teacher’s and students’ perceptions in learning reading comprehension of
procedure text through Scratch program. The study employed descriptive research
methods where the data were obtained using an observation sheet, a list of
interview questions, and questionnaires. The number of participants was an
English teacher and twenty students. The results showed that the English teacher
gave positive perceptions towards the implementation of Scratch program as a
new media in learning reading comprehension of procedure text. In addition, the
students also gave positive perceptions to each statement in each aspect of the
questionnaires. Based on the findings, it is obvious that Scratch program is an
interesting media that has made the students more creative, active, and confident
in learning reading comprehension of procedure text.
