Abstract
This study focused on teacher's method of teaching English to grade XI students during the pandemic. The objective of the study was to find out how the method was applied
by the teacher. The research method of this study was qualitative research. The data of
this study were collected through non-participant observation and participant
observation. The data of the study were analyzed by using Harmer s theory. The
researcher found that the teacher used two methods namely online and offline method.
The online method was implemented by creating a WhatsApp Group to communicate
with the students and their parents, making lesson plans based on the current situation,
preparing to teach material and assignments, explaining the material using a video,
sending assignments with Covid-19 content through Quipper School application and
WhatsApp Group. The offline method was only used for collecting hardcopy
assignments because face-to-face teaching and learning was not permitted.
