Abstract
This research deals with analyzing of cultural signs in “Buffalo Boys” film. The objectives of this research are identify and describe cultural signs are used in the film by Mike Wiluan. The data were taken from the “Buffalo Boys” film and collected from sentences, words, phrases, and pictures. In this research used qualitative method because this research focused on the analyze cultural signs, their meaning and reason of cultural signs in “Buffalo Boys” Film by Mike Wiluan. This research applied semiotics as proposed by Charles Sanders Pierce (1955) as the main theory which explained sign consist of icon, index and symbol, and used theory of Ferraro (2008) which explained cultural signs consist of material objects, ideas, attitudes, values and behavior, pattern. The findings show that the signs on this film consist of thirteen icons, ten indexes and nine symbols. The cultural signs on this film consist of ten material objects, nine ideas, attitudes, values and twelve behavior, patterns. The cultural signs realized in this film because of actualization of reality, motivating of imagination and promoting of abstract thinking and emotion.
