Abstract
This research aims to know the quantity, quality and categorization question students during the learning biology subject in class X and XI in SMA Negeri 11 Medan academic year 2019/2020. The method used is descriptive quantitative. The population of the research is the whole grade X and XI. The sample was taken with the technique of random sampling by taking each2 classes, namely in class X consisting of 2 classes and in class XI consisting of 2 classes. The instruments used to obtain data were verbal question and non verbal question.The results showedstudent’s in asking questions of the writing than verbal, with the percentage of 28,93% ask verbal while being asked in non verbal of 71,06%. Quantity of verbal question, with the percentage of 11,48% while writing question with the percentage of 88,51%. Categorization question students as measured based on Bloom's Taxonomy revised Anderson and Krathwohl obtained results that for category C1 (given) as much as 152 questions (24,24%). Category C2 as much as 215 questions (34,29%). Category C3 as much as 127 questions (20,25%). Category C4 as much as 92 questions (14,67%). Category C5 as much as 29 question (4,62%). Category C6 as much as 12 question (1,91%). The quality of questions students are measured based on Bloom's Taxonomy revised Anderson and Krathwohl obtained low quality questions (LOTS) that consists of categories C1, C2 and C3 as much as 494 questions (78,78%). While for high quality questions (HOTS) consisting of category C4, C5 and C6 as much as 133 questions (21,21%).
