Lexical Metaphor in Awaken The Giant Within

This research deals with Lexical Metaphor in personal development book Awaken The Giant Within. The objectives of this research were: 1) to analyze the kinds of lexical metaphor used in Awaken The Giant Within, 2) to describe lexical metaphors used in Awaken The Giant Within, and 3) to elaborate the reason for the use of lexical metaphors used in Awaken The Giant Within. This research design of this study descriptive qualitative research where the researcher explained the result of the research by describing the data gained. There were 110 clauses that contain of lexical metaphor in the book Awaken The Giant Within namely 12.72% for Verb-Noun-Noun, 10.90% for Noun-Verb, 10.90% for Noun-Noun, 7.27% for Noun-Adjective, 7.27% for Verb-Noun-Circumstance, 7.27% for Noun-Verb-Adjective-Noun, 6.36% for Noun- Adjective-Noun, 5.45 for Noun-Circumstance, 4.54% for Noun-Verb-Noun-Circumstance, 4.54% for Noun-Noun-Noun, 4.54% for Verb-Adjective-Noun, 3.63% for Noun-Noun-Verb-Noun, 3.63% for Noun-Verb-Noun-Adjective-Noun, 2.72% for Verb-Circumstance, 1.81% for Adjective- Adjective-Noun, 1.81% for Adjective-Noun- Adjective-Noun, 1.81% for Adjective-Noun-Verb-Adjective-Noun, 0.90% for Verb-Adjective-Circumstance, 0.90% for Noun-Noun-Verb-Noun-Noun, 0.90% for Noun-Verb-Verb-Adjective-Noun and 0.90% for Noun-Verb-Noun-Verb-Circumstance, The dominant type of lexical metaphor of Awaken the Giant Within was Verb-Noun-Noun. Process of lexical metaphor found in Awaken The Giant Within consist of double clause, triple clause, quadruple clause and quintuple clause. The reason of Lexical metaphors in ideas and strategies are used to explaine or describe things abstract to be as if they can be concrete and to give a picture in mind of what is being discussed. So when the readers understand and apply the ideas and strategies they can choose the right direction of life by taking immedietely control of their mental, emotional, physical and financial destiny and change their lives to be successful.
