Abstract
This thesis deals with the acquisition of Indonesian verbs and nouns by Batak Mandailing children at two years old. This thesis focuses on describing the acquisition of Indonesian verbs and nouns that are uttered by two year olds. This research is located in Medan and the subject of this research were children aged two years. In collecting data, this research applies document and audio-video recording as a means of collecting data. The data analysis technique used is descriptive technique and the data is described through the copying process. Qualitative research is conducted to enable the researcher to answer questions. The are three questions to be answered namely : (1) What types of verbs and nouns are acquired by the two-year-old Batak Mandailing children (2) How are the verbs and nouns acquired in their daily activities (3)Why are the children acquired verbs and nouns by the two years old Batak Mandailing children as the way. The findings show that the types of verbs and nouns produced by children are the types of verbs in the basic form and types of nouns in the basic form. The subject obtains the types of words in Indonesian through imitation in interaction and reinforcements with family members or from videos that children see on cellphones in everyday life besides that the acquisition of verbs and nouns in children is influenced by social background factors in the each child's family. Based on this finding, there are several suggestions: (1) In this research, children were only able to acquired verbs and nouns in their basic form, meanwhile they should be able to said words in the form of derived and empowerment at the age of two years old, meaning that in this research the subject is still lacking in acquiring words so parents are advised to build relationships and intensive communication with children to help develop children's vocabulary as a provision so that children can become skilled at language. (2) The process of acquiring children's language cannot be separated from the role of parents and the child's environment because in this reserach the process of acquiring children's language consists of imitation and reinforcement so parents should always establish good communication with children, provide examples of good language to children, pay attention to language development children and provide stimulation for language development according to the child's age and stage of development because parents and the environment are models that will be imitated by children. (3) Language acquisition in this research, namely all words acquired was influenced by social background factors so suggestions for other researchers, it is hoped that the results of this research can be developed by find for more factors in acquired children's language, especially two year old children.
