Abstract
This study focused on the developing pictures series as a media in teaching
writing descriptive text. The aim of this study was to develop the pictures series as
a media in teaching writing descriptive text at SMP Negeri 4 Selesai. This study
was conducted by Research and Development (R & D) design which have been
modified into four stages: Evaluating and Need Analysis, Media Design,
Validation and Revision, and Final Production. The subjects of this study were
the seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Selesai. The data were collected by
using questionnaires and interviews. The finding of this study showed that the
researcher has developed pictures series into 4 sets of topics. In each topic, there
were six pictures for learning section and six pictures for exercise section. The
pictures series have been validated by two validators, one from State University of
Medan and one from SMP Negeri 4 Selesai. The pictures series have the average
score was 4.57 or 91.35 % and categorized as very good.
