DEVELOPING ENGLISH READING MATERIALS BASED ON TASED BASED LEARNING FOR THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF COMPUTER AND NETWORKING ENGINEERING AT SMK NEGERI 1 SIATAS BARITA

This study concerns on: (1) how reading text materials are developed based on task based learning for students of computer and network engineering department at SMKN1 Siatas Barita, Tarutung, North Tapanuli and (2) The validity level of the reading materials. This study was conducted by using Research and Development ( R & D) design through six phases; gathering information and data, analyzing data, designing materials, validating by experts, revising and final product. The subjects of this research were 36 students of class 10 SMKN1 Siatas Barita. The data were gathered by administering interview and distributing questionnaire to 36 respondents to get the student’s needs. The interview and questionnaire results prove that the students need English reading materials which contains English for Computer and Networking Enginneering. After analyzing the data, the students need reading English materials in terms of vocation that they have. The product validated by experts showed the averages 3.65 from English lecturer and 4.85 from English teacher. It means that the English reading materials are categorized as relevant or appropriate for students of Computer and Networking Engineering for 10 grade.
