Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the level of student learning difficulty based on cognitive and indicator aspect of Structure and Function of Plant Tissue Topic and factors that influence student learning difficulties. This study belongs to descriptive research. The population is all students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam. The research sample was taken purposive sampling as many as 167 students. The instrument in this study is multiple choice tests and questionnaires. The result found that the student’s achievement was less than minimum score (KKM) and confirmed that the difficulty found on structure and function of plant tissue topic. The difficulty based on cognitive aspect: remembering (41,26%), understanding (41,09%), and applying (43,23%) in the moderate category. While the difficulty in analyzing (63,07%), evaluating (76,05%), and creating (74,25%) belongs to the high category. The difficulty based on indicator: indicator of explaining the characteristics and functions of meristem tissue in plant (41,12%), distinguishing the characteristics of all permanent tissue (40,89%), explaining the function of all permanent tissue (46,35%), determining the kinds of tissue that arrange vegetative organs and generative organs (45,66%), explaining the anatomical differences between monocot and dicot plants (57,68%), explaining the totipotency and plant tissue culture techniques (52,57%) in moderate level. While indicator of comparing the cell structure of plant tissue on figure (74,25%) belongs to the high level, and indicator of proposing the benefits of plant nurseries with tissue culture techniques (38,92%) belongs to the low level. (3) Factors that influence student learning difficulties are learning resources, teachers, learning activities and learning materials at quite influential level
