Abstract
The aim of this study was to analyzed the student’s misconception in plant tissue topic and to know the effectivity of mind mapping to overcome student’s misconception in SMA Negeri 1 Simanindo at grade XI IPA I. Type of this research were descriptive and quasi-experimental. Descriptive research used to investigate students understanding of concept and student’s misconception based on material plant tissue. Quasi-experimental research used to determine the effectivity of Mind mapping to overcome student’s misconception. The design of Quasi-experimental research used one group pretest-posttest design. Instrument used in this research was two dimensional diagnostic test to detect student’s misconception. The decreasing percentage of student’s misconception was 10%. Gain index value was 0.65. The t-test result was tcount (14.948) and ttable (1.701), therefore tcount (14.948) > ttable (1.701). It could be concluded that mind mapping is effective to overcome student’s misconception on plant tissue topic in SMA Negeri 1 Simanindo at grade XI IPA I academic year 2016/2017.
