Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop reading worksheet based on scientific approach for tenth grade students at SMA Swasta Muhammadiyah 18 Medan. This study was conducted by using Research and Development (R & D) design through six stages; gathering data and information, analyzing data, designing media, validating by the experts, revising and final products. The subject of the study was grade X of SMA Swasta Muhammadiyah 18 Medan. The data were gathered by administering interview to English teacher and distributing questionnaire to 23 respondents to get the students’ needs. The interview and questionnaire result proved that the students need reading worksheet based on scientific approach in teaching reading which can help the students to understand about the recount text. The new reading worksheets had been validated by experts. The average score is 3,7. It means the developed reading worksheets based on scientific approach is categorized as relevant or appropriate and categorized as a very good worksheets for students at SMA Swasta Muhammadiyah 18 Medan.
