Abstract
This research is quasi-experiment. The purpose of this research is to find out whether there are differences of students’ critical thinking ability by using Discovery learning and cooperative learning model Make a Match type at SMA Negeri 1 Berastagi. The population of this research is student of SMA Negeri 1 Berastagi. Where the sample consists of 2 classes, namely X MIPA 5 as experimental class I, this class consist 34 students and X MIPA 6 as experimental class II, this class consist 34 too. Experimental class I used Discovery learning model and experimental class II used cooperative learning Make a Match type. Collecting data technique of this research is mathematical critical thinking ability test given in the end of learning either experimental class I or experimental class II. The type of this test is easy.
Before testing the hypothesis, the normality and the homogeneity test should be done. The result of those tested, sample was taken from normal distributed and homogeneous population. The data analysis of experimental class by using t test with significance level α = 0.05, it was obtained that tcount > ttable then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. It can be conclude that students critical thinking ability which taught by Discovery learning model is better than cooperative learning
with Make a Match type at SMA Negeri 1 Berastagi
