Abstract
This research was aimed to develop audio-visual media in writing descriptive text
based on the students’ need at SMA Mardi Lestari. This research was conducted
by using Research and Development (R & D) method. There were three steps
applied in this research. The steps were: 1). Evaluation and need analysis, 2).
Developing media, and 3). Validating the learning media. The subject of this
research was tenth grade students of SMA Mardi Lestari. The instruments of
collecting data were using questionnaire, interview and document sheet. The data
of this research were analyzed by using descriptive technique. Need analysis
questionnaire was calculated by using percentage to get the information of
students’ need before developing Audio-Visual media. Expert judgment data were
calculated by using Likert scale, mean and criteria interval of expert judgment to
know the validity of Audio-visual media which has been developed. The result of
experts validation was 92.72% which mean the audio-visual media is in Very
Good category. Therefore the media is appropriate to use by tenth grade students
of Mardi Lestari to teaching writing descriptive text.
