Abstract

This study is to analyze the classroom interaction by male and female teachers through communication in classroom interaction. The aims of this study were: (1) To find out the types of speech function used by male and female teachers’ in classroom interaction (2) To find out the most dominant type of speech function used by male and female teachers’ in classroom interaction (3) To elaborate the reasons why of speech function are realized as the way they are. The design of the research used qualitative research. To answer the problem study, the data collected through the following instrument: observation, recording, and interviewing. The result of this research were the following, (1) The types of speech function that have been found in the male and female teacher talk in the classroom are statement, offer, question, and command. (2) The most dominant type of speech function used by male and female teacher was question during the teaching and learning process in the classroom. (3) The reasons in realization of speech functions by male and female teachers. Those were affected by male and female teachers believe which belongs to the presage category and context category female teachers which refers to the class in which the teaching process takes place. They have different ways into applying the language especially when doing interaction with their student, Which is they have their own ways in doing interaction with the student, even though they have different ways but their aim juts making the student comprehend and can know what the teacher said is.
