Abstract
Solid and transparent soap were produced from castor oil mixed with zaitun oil and stearic acid at 80 oC. The mixture was cooled down to 50 oC and saponified with NaOH solution and NaEDTA was added for colour. The mixture was taken in box to form soap and then the physical and chemical properties were determined. The physical and chemical properties of solid and transparent soap were: water and volatile content were 13.63% and 15.54 %, fatty acid content were 75.52% and 70.51%, alkali-free concentrations were 0.095% and 0.087%, FFA concentrtios were 1.84% and 2.04%, mineral oil for both soaps were negative the pH were 10, and foaming test were 77,7% and 71,74%, respectively. The physical and chemical properties of solid and transparent soap comply with SNI and commercial soaps standards.
