Abstract
Thl: aims of this study are to describe the methods and mat~:nals, which are
used in Rainbow School to teach reading in English to preschool children. /\s result
of the study, the writer analyzed the preschooler ability in reading words and
sentences.
This study employs qualitative research desrgn in which the wTiter mvolves
the key instrument collecting the data from the very beginning up to the end of
process of the study. The data of this study covers: i. The methods and maleria]s to teach J(Jding ~.;r preschool children at
Rainbow School along 6 months. l. L1st or word:; (Noun, pronoun, Vl:rb, adverb, adjective, article, preposition and coi~junction), which have been taught tor 6 months.
3. The Subjects' Reading Competence and Performance The are sp~ci lie aspects which signily these ( 1-3 ), that school and fiun dy play
the imponant role in preschooler is reading skill. The School provides rndhous,
material and teachers to train the preschoolers in read mg. Family, which can bt:
father, mother, nannies/ caretaker gu1des them to pract1ce to re<ld the words or
sentences. The findings or the research show that the teaching reading in l::nglish to
preschool children has been implemented in Rainbow School by using methods and
materials, which applied Neo-Humanist1c Education
