Abstract

This study attempts to improve students in writing descriptive through Brainstorming technique. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class VIII-A SMP YKPP which consists of 30 students. The research was conducted in two cycle, cycle I consists of four meetings and cycle II consisted of two meetings. The instruments for collecting data were quantitative data (writing test) and qualitative data (diary notes, observation sheet, and interview sheet). In analyzing the data, the mean of students score in the test cycle I was 68,3, and in the test cycle II was 78,83. The result shows that the students score kept improving in every evaluation. Based on diary notes, observation sheet, and interview. It was found that teaching learning process run well. Students were active, enthusiastic, and interested in writing. It means that Brainstorming Technique improves students achievement in writing descriptive text.
