Abstract

This study concerns with improving students achievement in writing narrative text through Investigation Group. This research was conducted by applying Classroom Action Research. The subjects were Grade X-5 students of SMAN 2 Binjai. There were forty-seven students. To collect the data, the instruments used were quantitative data (writing narrative text) and qualitative data (observation sheets, diary notes, and questionnaire). Based on the data analysis, it was found that the students’ score improved. The observation sheets, diary notes, and questionnaire show that the students were interested in writing narrative text through Investigation Group. It was found that teaching of writing narrative text through Investigation Group strategy could improve students writing narrative text. This implication is that teachers of English should be trained to apply this strategy. So, that they are suggested to apply it in the teaching-learning process
