Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning dengan metode praktikum dan model pembelajaran discovery learning tanpa menggunakan metode praktikum terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa pada materi arthropoda di kelas X MAN 1 Deli Serdang T.P 2018/2019. Jenis penelitian adalah quasi experiment dengan desain two group pretest-posttest. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X MAN 1 Deli Serdang yang terdiri dari 2 kelas dengan jumlah seluruhnya adalah 70 orang. Sedangkan sampel penelitian diambil dengan teknik random sampling terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen I MIA-1 dan kelas eksperimen II MIA-2 yang masing-masing berjumlah 35 orang siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah tes hasil belajar keterampilan proses sains dalam bentuk essay dengan jumlah 10 soal. Aktivitas belajar siswa dengan menggunakan lembar observasi yang dilakukan observer. Dari analisa data untuk kelas eksperimen yang diajar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran discovery learning dengan menggunakan praktikum diperoleh rata-rata pretest 33,35 dengan standar deviasi 7,62 dan nilai rata-rata posttest 80,07 dengan standar deviasi 6,65. Pada uji pretest diperoleh nilai pretest thitung<ttabel yaitu 0,92< 1,998 maka H0 diterima, sehingga kemampuan awal siswa pada kelas eksperimen I sama dengan kemampuan awal kelas eksperimen II. Kelas eksperimen II yang diajar dengan menggunakan model discovery learning tanpa menggunakan praktikum diperoleh rata-rata pretest 32,07 dan standar deviasi 5,95 sedangkan rata-rata posttest 73,35 dengan standar deviasi 5,55. Kedua kelas berdistribusi normal dan memiliki variasi yang homogen. Hasil uji thitung adalah 9,32 sedangkan ttabel adalah 1,99 (9,32>1,99). Sehingga diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa ada pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning dengan menggunakan metode praktikum terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa pada materi arthropoda di kelas X semester II MAN 1 Deli Serdang T.P 2018/2019.
