Abstract

The problem in this research is whether there is influence of PQ4R method (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review) on Students’ learning Result of X IIS SMA Swasta Teladan Medan Academic Year 2017/2018. The aims of this study is to know the effect of PQ4R method (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review) on students’ learning on the subject of demand and supply in class X IIS SMA Swasta Teladan Medan Academic Year 2017/2018. This study was conducted at SMA Swasta Teladan Medan, located at Jalan Pertiwi No. 95 Medan with the number of population equal to the number of samples are 94 people as many as 2 classes. As for class X IIS1 as experiment class and class X IIS2 as control class. The technique used in sampling is total sampling. Instrument or technique of data collection in this research is test result of learning in the form of multiple choice as many as 20 test, where previously been tested to know the level of test validity, test reliability, distinguishing power of test and difficulty level of result of test result of learning result is valid and reliable. Data analysis techniques used are normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis test. The results showed that the learning outcomes studied by the PQ4R method (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review) were higher than the learning outcomes taught by conventional methods. The result of statistical test show the result of student learning with PQ4R method (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review) is pre test of 59,148 and post test equal to 77,553, while result of student learning taught by conventional method is pre test equal to 53,61 and post test of 62.65. The result of hypothesis testing tcount > ttable is 5,66> 1,668 at significant level 95% and α = 0,05. Thus it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant influence between the use of PQ4R method (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review) on students’ learning in class X IIS SMA Swasta Teladan Medan Academic Year 2017 / 2018 on the subject of demand and supply.
