Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimen dan dilakukan di SMP SW Sidorame Medan yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw lebih tinggi daripada model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD pada materi Kubus dan Balok di kelas VIII SMP SW Sidorame Medan T.A 2017/2018. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP SW Sidorame Medan T.A 2017/2018 yang terdiri dari 2 kelas. Sedangkan yang menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini ada dua kelas, yaitu kelas VIII-1 sebanyak 32 orang yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw dan kelas VIII-2 sebanyak 32 orang yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD. Penentuan sampel dilakukan secara acak (cluster sampling). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes uraian (essay test) sebanyak 5 soal yang telah dinyatakan valid. Hasil penelitian dan pengujian hipotesis disimpulkan bahwa rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw lebih tinggi dari rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD pada materi Kubus dan Balok di kelas VIII SMP SW Sidorame Medan T.A 2017/2018, dengan = 4,63 dan = 1,669 diperoleh tidak berada di t < 1,669 sehingga ditolak dan diterima. Rata-rata pretes siswa kelas Jigsaw sebesar 12,375 sedangkan rata-rata postest 37,25. Siswa kelas STAD diperoleh rata-rata pretes sebesar 11,8125 sedangkan rata-rata postest sebesar 34,875. Berdasarkan peningkatan nilai rata-rata padda kedua kelas, sehingga disarankan kepada guru matematika untuk dapat menerapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw maupun model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dalam pembelajaran matematika, dengan tetap memperhatikan kelebihan dan kekurangan dari kedua model pembelajaran tersebut.
