Abstract

The aim of this research is to get an average of heat transfer coefficient and Nu - Re correlation of longitude fin model using heat and mass transfer analogy. Specimens are made from printed napthalen of plate form and tested on the wind tunnel section with tong and speed of air stream variation. The heat transfer coefficient obtained by calculating mass transfer coefficient. The mass transfer coefficient measured from the naphtalen mass reduction in spanning certain time and then analogy with heat transfer coefficient. The result obtained from experiment is then compared to the result of empiric. Result of the research indicate that the longitude fin with leading edge square can improve the average of heat
transfer coefficient till 2.76 times compared to the empiric result. This improvement is enough dominant at short distance of the leading edge. The result of research also indicate that the increasing of the Reynolds number (Re) will improve the Nusselt number (Nu) also. From obtained calculation, the Re-Nu correlation , that is: Nu = 0.200 Re0.616 and valid to 3 x 104  Re  1.7 x 105.
