Abstract
This study aims to describe the use of Wordwall as an interactive learning media
to activate students’ learning interest and to explore their responses toward its
implementation in English learning at MTs Negeri Batu Bara. Using a descriptive
qualitative method, data were obtained from 30 students of Grade VIII-3 through
observations and interviews. The findings reveal that Wordwall creates a fun,
engaging, and motivating learning environment. Based on observations guided by
the Self-Determination Theory (SDT), Wordwall supported students’ autonomy,
improved their competence, and fostered positive social interactions. Interview
results show that 90% of students felt pleasure while learning with Wordwall,
83.3% maintained better focus, 93.3% experienced increased learning interest, and
80% became more actively involved during class. Therefore, Wordwall is proven
to be effective in activating students’ learning interest by enhancing their
attention, motivation, and active participation in English learning.
