Students’ Perception On The Use Of ChatGPT in Learning Narrative Text Writing at Tenth Grade Students of SMA Ar-Rahman Medan

This study aims to investigate students' perceptions of the use of ChatGPT in
writing narrative texts at Ar-Rahman High School in Medan. This study was
conducted using qualitative method. Data were collected through questionnaire
involving tenth grade students at Ar-Rahman High School in Medan. The results
of the study show that 95% of students who use ChatGPT consider this
technology useful (perceived usefulness) in helping them find story ideas,
organize narrative flow, and enrich their English vocabulary. Furthermore, 93% of
students also rated ChatGPT as easy to use (perceived ease of use) due to its
simple interface and quick responses, which do not require advanced technical
skills. Furthermore, due to perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, it can
be concluded that 94% of students have a behavioral intention, namely planning to
use ChatGPT again in other narrative text assignments and recommending this
medium to their friends. And because of this behavioral intention, 94% of actual
system use was generated, where students actually used ChatGPT as a good
medium to help them work on narrative texts.
