Abstract
This research investigates the use of sarcasm in TikTok comment sections, focusing on Rian Fahardhi's account, "President Gen Z." Using Camp‟s theory, sarcasm is
classified into propositional sarcasm, lexical sarcasm, like-prefix sarcasm, and illocutionary sarcasm, while Keraf's functions such as rejection, prohibition,
affirmation, information, order, equality, comparison, opinion, question and greetings are applied to explore its functions. The data are sourced from comments on Fahardhi‟s viral videos, "Surat Terbuka untuk Kominfo dan BSSN‖ and “Korban Judol Terima Bansos” which critiques governance and policy issues. The study reveals that sarcasm is used to critique and express opinions. The findings offer
insights for English students and social media users interested in understanding sarcasm especially that can be seen in the form of comment sections.
