Figurative Language Used in Song Lyrics of Heaven and Hell Album.

This research was aimed to reveal the aspects related to figurative language in
Heaven and Hell Album. The data of this research includes 94 lyrics that used
figurative language in this album. The researcher used descriptive qualitative in
analyzing the data. The data in this research was collected from Heaven and Hell
Album by Ava Max that released in 2020. The data, which are figurative language,
were identified in the songs and they were analyzed based on their types. The purpose
of this research were (1) to find out the types of figurative language (2) to analyze the
realizations of figurative language, and (3) to explain the reason for the use of
figurative language. Based on the result of this study, there were eight types of
figurative language with the total of hyperbole 51,06%, simile 14,89%, oxymoron
14,89%, metaphor 9,37%, personification 5,31%, metonymy 2,12%, irony 1,06%,
and litotes 1,06%. Furthermore, the figurative language were used to give imaginative
pleasure, additional imagery, emotional intensity, and means of concentration.
