Abstract
In general, stylistics are applied to literary works such as novels to find out the meaning implied in the novel so that readers are more interested in reading. The problems raised in this study are how the use of language style in the novel Malibu Rising and why language style is used in the novel
Malibu Rising. The type of research is qualitative research, using descriptive method. The data collected in the form of dialogue with the data source is the novel Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins which was published in 2021. Data collection techniques are reading, taking notes and classification types of language style from Gorys Keraf theory (2010) stated that 5 types of language there are, climax style, anticlimax style, Parallelism Style, Repetition Style and Antithetical Style. The results concluded that out of 126 dialogues, the dominant stylistic types used in the novel are 45 dialogues (35,7%) in Climax Style, 37 dialogues (29,5%) in Repetition Style, 19 dialogues (15%) in Anticlimax Style, 14 dialogues (11,1%) in Parallelism, and 11 dialogues (8,7%) in Antithetical Style. The use of language style in this novel has the function of information, function as an explanation, function to animate an inanimate object (personification), function to cause laughter and function to emphasise or strengthen. So that
each novel will have its own meaning and function based on its stylistic use. The result of this study hoped to contribute to the understanding of stylistic techniques in English literature and offer valuable insights for future
