Abstract
This study aims to explain how the Implementation of project-based learning in SMA N 1 Pancur Batu is in accordance with the stages based on experts and also this
study aims to see what are the challenges of students or teachers implementation of Project-Based Learning. The Implementation of project-based learning is expected to make students more active in learning, especially in English learning. The steps of implementing project-based learning are found with the theory of Hidayati (2020). The theory of Daryanto and Raharjo (2012) will explain the challenges of students and teachers in Implementation Project-Based Learning. The participants of this research are 30 students of class XI SMA N 1 Pancur Batu. In conducting this research, a descriptive qualitative research design was used with research instruments in the form of observation and interviews. The results of this study indicate that, teacher has carried out the stages of implementing projectbased
learning appropriately without missing a single stage but at the monitoring stage the teacher does it less precisely according to the syntax. The results of the study also explain the challenges of students in implementing project learning is they have to build cohesiveness between group members, take a lot of time, and they find it difficult to speak English. Based on this research it is also known that
students are more active to work in groups.
