Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the implementation of the Jigsaw Method to teach writing descriptive text for seventh-grade Students of MTs.N 2 Deli Serdang. This research was conducted at MTs.N 2 Deli Serdang using the Descriptive Qualitative method by Huberman and Saldana (2014). The subject of this study is a seventhgrade English teacher and 22 students in seventh grade at MTs.N 2 Deli Serdang. The result of this study showed that the implementation of the Jigsaw method in teaching writing descriptive text in the seventh grade of MTs.N 2 Deli Serdang is divided into three phases. The first is the Pre-teaching activity, While-teaching activity, and Post-teaching activity. The researcher also found that the Jigsaw method in teaching writing in the seventh grade of MTs.N 2 Deli Serdang makes
the students better at working in a group, more active, creative, critical, and independent. The use of digital media namely “ProWritingAids” helped many aspects in the learning and teaching of writing descriptive texts, this media is also one of the reasons the students could be motivated to learn writing because they felt enjoy and excited about the media. The method and the media used affected the students' cooperative collaboration with other students and learning writing got better.
