Abstract

Character education is a component of education that has an important role in developing the quality of education in Indonesia. In the Merdeka curriculum,character education is outlined in the Pancasila Student Profile, which must be
applied to all aspects of teaching and learning. This research aims to analyze the character values of Pancasila student profile and the techniques of integrating characters contained in the textbook entitled “BAHASA INGGRIS: Work in
Progress SMA/SMK/MA X”. This research method was a qualitative research by using content analysis. The researcher analyzed the textbook as the subject by using instrument data sheet to find out the data and the result of this analysis reported by using the formula of average. The results showed that the six dimensions of the Pancasila student profile were found. The dimension of having faith, fear of God Almighty, having a noble character 6.4%, the dimension of global diversity 31.9%, the dimension of mutual cooperation 40.4%, the dimension of independent 4.3%, the dimension of critical reasoning 4.3%, the dimension of creative 12.8%. In the six dimensions of the Pancasila student profile, which have 18 characters, only 17 were found, while one character that was not found was reading interest. The primary focus dimension of the English textbook was mutual cooperation. In addition, the main focus character in this textbook was creativity. Moreover, the integrating technique of explicitly show 51.1% more dominant, meanwhile the integrating technique of implicitly show 48.9%.
